Where donations go

February 3rd, 2007

A week ago or so, I was honored with the first donation ever. It really made my day.

It will be invested in a program called “PackRat”:http://infinitenil.com/packrat/, which is a local interface to the fabulous “Backpack”:http://www.backpackit.com/ service, an online service I intensely use to keep track of all my project’s development, including of course minishowcase.

The reason it is not invested in something that regards minishowcase more directly is that I just bought all software that I needed. “CSSEdit”:http://macrabbit.com/cssedit/ (for CSS writing/editing) and “TextMate”:http://macromates.com/ (for code writing/editing) were the last ones and the most needed.

Thanks a lot to Kevin Cornwell and, if you feel like giving a hand to the project, you’ll find a nifty “PayPal”:http://www.apypal.com/ button on the main “minishowcase”:http://minishowcase.frwrd.net/ page.

Release: version 0.9.73 Beta

January 27th, 2007

So version 0.9.73 Beta is out and we’re getting closer to a Release Candidate.

Many improvements you won’t see have happened here, mostly:

  • Non-ASCII encoding support for both folder and image filenames. They even accept single quotes. There’s a new setting in the config/settings.php file called [’use_double_encoding’], if you run into trouble with images not showing or filenames looking cookie, try changing its value.
  • The tools menu went up the top, but it is still on the thoughts, since i guess i prefer to contextualise tools, so the slideshow went sideways to the gallery title. It’ll change, hopefully getting to a place where it is most useful.
  • Also, i was trying to add the Slimbox preview framework, but it collides with my code, so it does not work yet. I’ll try to add it to the extensions, since it is waaaay lighter than Lightbox JS2, more robust, and looks the same.

I’ll be publishing a full Release Log to the Release page soon, and add the features to the Features page. I’ll also post a full list of coming enhances, improvements and the likes, so you get a chance to vote for your favourite, and enhance the possibility of it getting there first.

Welcome to the minishowcase blog

January 27th, 2007

Hi everybody,

so I decided to host a blog where to keep you informed of what’s happening, what has been updated and so. It also cover some sort of online Documentation, but in an easier mode for me, and still searchable by you.

Hope you like the idea, and if you do, let me know so I’m aware it is all going somewhere (for you, of course).
